2. Getting Started


Hello fellow Hacker!

This short guide shows you how to get set up to contribute to Reprothon 2022.

The aim of the Reprothon is to test whether the accepted answers to questions on StackOverflow are reproducible or not.

How to Get Started

1. Sign up for Reprothon event Sign up for the Reprothon by typing your email address in the MailChimp subscribe box below and pressing ‘subscribe’. We will then send you your unique Reprothon ID number. This is not an automated process, so you will not receive your ID instantly.

2. Check your email for your personal ReprothonID

You will receive an unique 4 digit ID number shortly after registering. Save the email or take note of your ID number, you will need it when entering your results into the Google form later.


3. Check you know how to access the Question Generator and the “Reprothon2021 Data Entry” Google form

Open up the links to the Question Generator and Google form in your browser, it may be handy to keep them open!


4. Check your R Version before you start

Before you start reproducing examples on StackOverflow, please check if you have R Version 4 installed. If you use RStudio, your R Version should show up when you start RStudio.


Otherwise use the R.Version function to check:

Now you’re ready to get started! The process is simple!

  1. Click Get a New Sample to obtain a Question Link from the “Question Generator”
  2. The link will take you to a question in Stack Overflow. Try to reproduce the accepted answer in R.
  3. Fill out the Google Form “Reprothon2021 Data Entry” with your results.
